Air conditioning Exeter
BSP Air Conditioning install, service and repair air conditioning across Exeter and East Devon. That means homes, with bedrooms, lounges, home offices and extensions that get too warm in summer, and commercial buildings, from offices and shops to industrial units. The systems they fit cool in summer and heat efficiently in winter, so one installation earns its keep all year.
Every job starts with a survey rather than a guess. How big is the room, which way does it face, where can the outdoor unit go, and how will the pipework get there without spoiling the house? That is how you end up with a quiet, correctly sized system and a quote that doesn't change once work begins.
What we do
Air conditioning is the core of the business, and the same F-Gas certified team also handles ventilation, refrigeration and solar PV.

Customers mention the same things again and again: on time, tidy, clear explanations and fair, open pricing. Read the reviews on Google.
Handling refrigerant legally requires F-Gas certification. BSP hold a REFCOM F-Gas company certificate, REF1010242, which you can check on the REFCOM register.
A dealer status awarded by MHI's UK distributor. It extends the parts warranty on MHI split systems from 5 years to 7.
The name customers mention in BSP's Google reviews. BSP is the trading name of Building Services Projects (UK) Limited, a limited company registered since 2011, based at Clyst St Mary on the edge of Exeter.
How it works
BSP look at the rooms, where the outdoor unit can sit and how the pipework will run, and talk through what you want the system to do: cooling, heating or both.
Free and with no obligation. The equipment, the work and anything that affects the price are set out before you decide.
A standard system typically takes one to two days. Pipework goes in neat trunking, dust is kept down, and everything is cleared away.
The system is tested and commissioned, you're shown the controls and the app, and an annual service keeps it running efficiently.

In our own words, from reviews of BSP on Google, where they are rated 4.8 out of 5 from 49 reviews, plus one testimonial from BSP's own website. Read the Google reviews in full.
Brett arrived on time on both days of a two-day installation across three rooms. He was respectful in the house, kept the work neat and cleared up after himself, and explained each stage as he went. She's looking forward to a cooler summer and a warmer winter.
It was his first air conditioning system, and he calls the finished job impeccable, with no dust and no mess. He had patient answers to every question and a price he thought was very fair.

FAQs
There is no honest fixed price, because two installations are rarely the same job. The things that move the price most are how many rooms you want to cover, whether one outdoor unit can serve them all (a multi-split) or each needs its own, the capacity each room needs, the length and route of the pipework, where the outdoor unit can go, and the unit you choose. BSP give free, no-obligation quotes. Each one is itemised and follows a look at the property, so the figure doesn't change once the work starts.
A standard system typically takes one to two days. A single wall-mounted unit is often at the shorter end, and several rooms on a multi-split at the longer end. Larger commercial systems, and jobs where the pipework has to travel a long way through the building, take longer. You'll be given a realistic timescale with the quote.
Yes. Modern split systems are air-to-air heat pumps: in winter they run in reverse and move heat from the outside air into the room. Depending on the model and the outdoor temperature, they deliver several units of heat for every unit of electricity they use. That makes them one of the most efficient ways to heat a single room or an extension. Several of BSP's Google reviews mention exactly this, looking forward to a cooler summer and a warmer winter.
It depends on the property. Many homes can have an outdoor unit fitted without an application, but listed buildings, homes in a conservation area, flats and anything that changes the look of the front of a building are the usual cases to check. BSP will point out anything that needs checking at the survey. Exeter City Council or East Devon District Council can confirm the position for your address.
BSP recommend at least once a year. A service cleans the filters, coil and fan, clears the condensate drain, and checks the system is running at the right pressures and temperatures. That keeps it efficient and catches small faults early. Larger systems can also carry a legal requirement for periodic F-Gas leak checks, depending on how much refrigerant they hold.
BSP fit systems from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi, Daikin, Toshiba and LG. They hold 3 Diamond Dealer status with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and the right unit for you depends on the room, the budget and the features you want. The survey is where that gets decided.
Every new system comes with the manufacturer's warranty. For Mitsubishi Heavy Industries split systems, BSP's 3 Diamond Dealer status extends the parts warranty from the standard 5 years to 7 years. Warranty terms differ between brands and models, so ask what applies to the system you're quoted for and get it in writing with the quote.
Yes. Handling the refrigerant in an air conditioning system legally requires F-Gas certification, and Building Services Projects UK Limited holds a REFCOM F-Gas company certificate, number REF1010242. You can check it yourself on the REFCOM register.
It can be done, but it needs more care and usually listed building consent before anything is fixed to the building. The outdoor unit position, pipe routes and any holes through historic fabric all matter. BSP plan the most discreet route and will tell you what needs approval from the council's conservation officer before any work goes ahead.
